From David Mehegan at the Boston Globe:
Banned Books Week starts tomorrow, Sept. 29, and continues through Oct. 6. Sponsored by several organizations, including the American Library Association and the Association of American Publishers, the activities of the week protest efforts to remove books from libraries or bookstores, usually on grounds that they are deemed offensive to taste or morality. Read here the list of the most-challenged books of 2006.
Personally, whenever someone attacks a perfectly nice book such as And Tango Makes Three or King and King, I order a copy online and have it drop shipped to my library. It’s just a little karmic thumbing of my nose – but it’s better than not doing anything.
