unpublishing • this is kinda super nifty – chemistry professor Homer Jacobson, a chemistry professor published a paper in 1955 in American Scientist. It was called “Information, Reproduction and the Origin of Life” and basically said the earth was too hot billions of years ago for the stuff of life to have survived. Since that time the creationists have been flogging his paper as their bona fides defending their idea that a white bearded wizard sneezed the planet into existence. So, what did Homer do? he retracted the paper after 52 years. Good boy Homer, have a cookie.
