I too hit one of the Boston Bookfairs last weekend, but i have been going flat out and haven’t had a chance to load the couple of crappy snaps i grabbed or post any pithy comments. I was out in the wilds of Groveland this morning trying to trap a stray cat who did NOT want to come in out of the snow. My fingers are still cold.
woik • I spent all of Sunday reworking the only to discover our group’s treasurer screwed up our paypal account (how do you screw up a paypal account?) so now I have to wait until they set up a Google Check out account to finish coding the transaction functions.
blog of note • Ian Kahn wrote up some of his impressions of the Boston Fairs on Lux Mentis blog.
cool tool • did you know you can adjust the markers on Google Maps? I finally got to move the marker from the middle of the street to the actual HOUSE.
worth hearing • NPR-WBUR’s On Point had a discussion about Amazon’s new whatsit – for reading texts. Yawn….wake me when something practical, convenient and cheap shows up. Reading text digitally is great for periodicals, text books, trashy novels and porn, but it just ISN’T appropriate for reading under the covers with a flash light. Not to mention that it tracks what you dowload and read and feeds it back to ‘THEM’. And I won’t even start on all the internal malware keeping you from actually doing anything with the texts you bought and paid for. Damn this is one stupid ugly machine.
cookies • Unshelved has posted their winners and runner ups from the Pimp by BookCart competition…and man these guys have a lot of time on their hands. Nice to see paper maché made it into the 21st century unimproved.
