duck press • from the Guardian: Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl) to write sixth volume in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. Now if they were to discover that a sixth volume had been somehow lodged in the recesses of dear Douglas Adams computer, I would be over the moon and frothing at the mouth. But alas as we have seen from prior conscription writers, the derivative works are always a let down, a mere shadow of the original. I would have labeled this “flogging a dead horse” but I don’t consider DNA’s work dead nor a horse, perhaps a beautiful dolphin in the sky. Whereas a duck press is designed to get the last good juices out of something that was good all on its own. So this would technically be ‘dolphin press’. (via )

speaking of the dead • And the Hippos Were Boiled in Their Tanks, a novel co-written by Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs, will be published for the first time more than 60 years.
