Books I have no time to read

Just cause I have no time to read them doesn’t mean I don’t still buy books. When it comes to book shopping, I’m a bit of a sheep. I will be watching something or reading something or most likely listening to NPR and one thing will remind me of another and I will say…’Hey sounds like something I might like to read about.’ And being just another cash broke book whore, I usually order it up from the library, and when i get it, I flip it open and if I can get off page one: that means if the author has any facility with linear thought, I order a copy for my very own off the internet. You have no idea how many books sound great but the authors can’t write! When it arrives and meets its brethern in an ever growing pile on the headboard.

The Warner Home Video release of King Kong (1933) along with The Last Days of Pompeii (1935) spurred me to pick up Living Dangerously: the Adventures of Merian C. Cooper by Mark Cotta Vaz.

The Last Legionby Valerio Massimo Manfredi is being filmed as we speak with a lovely cast of hunky Brits, Colin Firth, Kevin McKidd, Alexander Siddig….I am so all over that. I ordered up the UK 1st and may have to order another one, as this one was packed creatively for shipping and came with seriously bumped corners.

Christopher Nolan of Memento & Batman Begins is filming Christopher Priest’s novel of Vitorian Magicians The Prestige I managed to scrounge up an ARC of my very own. But I may put it off until after the movie opens: It’s with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman… a girl’s gotta have a hobby.
