As I was limping around the Hub of the Universe, Cathie and I turned a corner and found this tiny tiny park, with a fountain Dorothea Dix donated for thirsty horses. We recognized the name, but couldn’t find a plaque to jog our memory, so the 1st thing I did when I got back to internet access was wiki her up.

Dix was a 19th c American activist on behalf of the indigent insane who lobbied the government to create the first generation of American mental asylums and during the Civil War, she served as Superintendent of Army Nurses. Cool huh?
