emptying the inbox

I usually don’t let it get this full but i got a little busy this week.

unbidding • The British Library has raised £635,000 to save a rare 15th Century manuscript called The Wardington Hours from being exported to a German dealer.

in their shoes • Two Connecticut librarians described what it was like to be slapped with an FBI national security letter and accompanying gag order.

worth reading • from the American Institute for Conservation is Survey of Current Methods and Materials Used for the Conservation of Leather Bookbindings – guys this stuff is OUT there on the net, if you just look for it.

well worth reading • the latest issue of the Independent Online Booksellers Association online journal: the IOBA Standard is up. the Standard is a great item (also free) A round table of features by some of the best and most informed dealers working on in the trade. I advise you to read the back issues as well. This is the good stuff.
