For those who want to create a listing on Amazon for books they otherwise cannot list because they got this message:
“We Found a Match in Our Catalog Based on the information you entered, we think the product you want to sell already has a product detail page in our catalog.”
Amazon matches on Author, Title, Binding and Date, so if your book matches all of these, but the Publisher is different, you can not list it.
There is a solution.
• Change the Date. Submit the listing. Amazon will accept it, and issue a BASIN number for it. Continue editing the listing, but make sure to change the Date to the correct date.
The new listing will be accepted, and your book will show up when Amazon adds the listing to their catalog (five minutes).
Now you can get those First Editions listed when Amazon has a Grosset & Dunlap with the same date as the default! I just did one where the Amazon Publisher was Hodder but the true first was Abingdon. Not valuable, but very sellable, just the same.
