what comes after panic? i dunno…a few more weeks of bad sales and i’m gonna sure find out. that’s frosty, we pulled him out of a snow bank, near dead very dehydrated – warmed him up and filled him with fluids and he’s doing great. because donations are down, the rescue group officers (who don’t rescue OR foster) want to dissolve and leave all us foster homes to fend for ourselves. 09’s gonna be some fun, eh?

worth reading • Will the new anti porn law kill comics in the UK? “The Criminal Justice and Immigration Act” – makes possessing any “extreme image” produced “solely or principally for the purpose of sexual arousal” illegal. from Comic Shop Voice.com : the specific subsections of the law that worry British comic fans are:

· an act which threatens a person’s life (Hold on! Isn’t that how Batman, Punisher, Judge Dredd get anything done?)

· an act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person’s anus, breasts or genitals. (A kick in the balls or arse would constitute this, and a kick in the balls is a well trodden part of humour)

worth reading • Nora O’Neill at Bookshop Blog suggests using twitter to promote your bookstore. I havent’ gotten any sales generated by using it, but damn you sure can get some hits using it.

Part of the celebration of Darwin 200, the UK is reading Conan Doyle’s the Lost World Read 2009 program which is being sponsored by a consortium of arts, education and government bodies even providing thousands of free copies. (via Philobiblos) Darwin 200 is a global programme of events celebrating Charles Darwin’s scientific ideas and their impact.

MUST READ • Consumer Product Safety Commission Announces One-Year Stay on Implementation of Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act – ya gotta admit the last 6 months the Bush brain trust wasn’t actually reading these legislations were they? cause that one was just a train wreck…it kills an entire industry of handmade toys, puts millions of used booksellers out of business and shutters every kids library in the country. way to go guys. and don’t even get me started on the lack of control and oversight on the bailout money. we still got melamine in the baby formula but we certainly didn’t want any lead in those handmade toys.
