Someone asked me about formatting a booklisting. With 57 varieties of software doing everything for us, it’s easy to forget that there IS a logical order to things. Granted everyone tweaks it to his or her specific needs. But like Picasso’s nudes you gotta start with the basic outline.
Think of it like any organizational chart, go from the general to the specific:
Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species
Dewey 300: social science 320: political science 323 Civil & political rights 323.5 Political rights
Author. Title. City of publication: Publisher’s name, Year. Edition information. Condition information. Special notes.
remember the index card catalog? those little friggin cards that were a pain in the ass to roll onto the platen of the typewriter?
