Powells Books Blog has a post dedicated to the late Fup a loyal and devoted employee of many years.
Which leads me to shopcat.com – who knew there was a site dedicated to bookstore and working cats everywhere?
People seem to have mostly forgotten that until very recently the bookstore cat was a mandatory part of any bookstore, and the most important. Books were made of things rodents found yummy, leather and starch and animals glues – uummm good and the rodents were a serious danger to the inventory. The bookstore cat would be the 1st and only line of defense and was treated with a great deal of deference.
And if anyone is in serious need of a good bookstore cat, be sure to check out Petfinder.com – an entire database of potential employees.
