Happy Hogmanay! (Think of it like Scottish drinking day.) We made it to the end of still ANOTHER year! Only losing a silly little thing called FAITH. Faith that our government is there to protect us from flooding & hunger, that our private phone calls are indeed private, that you are secure in your own body from unreasonable search, seizure, forceable prolongation of your life while in a vegetative state or merely held incommunicado without any legal satus whatsoever. On the whole the faith I miss the most, is that tomorrow will be better than today. There doesn’t seem to be an end to this morass. ’06 seems to promise unending investigations: the Presidents illegal actions, the NSAs warrentless spying, the CIAs country hopping black prisons, the New York Times attempt to defend our rights, congress’s limitless profiteering. An end to this abyssmal nachtmare is not in sight nor is it imaginable. So buckle up kiddies, looks like 06 is going to be a bumpy ride.
End of the year watching:
The Cover Up (1949) delightful little Christmas murder movie.
Christmas Wish(1950) a magic squirrel, the great durante..what else do you want?
Arizona (1940) Jean Arthur carries a shotgun and my great respect.
