Day two…Margaritas, Daiquiris and Collins’, which has the mnemonic “Tom likes Gin” but then again who doesn’t? The students i hang with are these two Romainian kids who work in a restaurant up in tourist haven North Conway. They drove 115 miles and 3 hours just to take this course….I don’t know that I would do that. The American kids spend their time comparing bars they have crawled away from. Did that just sound catty?
Personally I don’t see a fascination with drinks and drinking yielding a career in bartending. I think behind the bar would get old fast if you were more interested in mixing drinks than serving customers; but that’s just my opinion I could be wrong. I already lined up a caterer who will toss me some work come March, until then I will go knocking on doors of private social clubs and fraternal orgs, I figure their bartenders are always retiring and they would eat twentysomethings alive, so I have a pretty good shot.
I started reading Kinglsey Amis Everyday Drinking which I am throughly enjoying, it is too bad the library will want it back. I have to be careful NOT to read drink recipes until I complete the class…the testing is based on IN class information..god forbid I pick up something else to read in the meantime.
